Swimming!!

Well, it’s true and I have the proof:

Swimming in Silverstrand

I went swimming in Silverstrand (a beach near Galway).

I wonder why the Spanish and the Portuguese guys were the last ones in :-D

The water was cold but the weather quite nice, everybody says it was strange :)

lastgraph3

Just a quick post to let you all know this very cool website: lastgraph3 (shown to me by Simões).

Very cool and interesting way to check your last.fm scrobbles.

Here is my stuff.

Trip to Cork

Last weekend was a short trip to the south of Ireland. I can recommend Kinsale and Cobh, very nice places. Also lots of scenic routes that make you stop every 5 minutes for pictures.

Just a picture of the sunset at Kinsale Harbor:

Kinsale

As usual, lots of nice photos in Richard’s Flickr set.

Unfortunately this weekend is for work, writing papers and needing to read papers before leaving for the Summer School next week.

BTW, this post was done with the help of Ubiquity. Seems to be very powerful but still needs more digging.

Northern Ireland

This weekend was a bank holiday weekend so some people from deri rented a car and went up to Northern Ireland. The result was a really nice trip with some excellent photos.

Galway Races

Last week I went to the Galway Races. A lot of people and, unfortunately the weather was not so nice :(

DSCN8337

It’s still a nice time, lots of people with fancy clothes and it was Hat day for the ladies. Apparently it’s also fancy to arrive by helicopter.. Maybe next year. :-D

football

A picture of the last week DERI football game:

We had nice weather :-D

Galway Arts Festival

During these weeks takes place the Galway Arts Festival and yesterday was the Macnas Festival Parade followed by some fireworks.

The parade was quite nice, some pics in the usual place.

Next up (as soon as the Arts Festival ends) are the Galway Races. These might not be as fun but I’ll check it out :D

I don’t think I mentioned this before so here it is: Next year the Volvo Ocean Race will make a stop in Galway! Now this will probably be worth seeing ;)

All work and no play…

Last weekend was time to check the dog races:

DSCN3560

Cool!! The dogs are VERY fast! Running 500m in about 30s! For it to be real fun you have to bet! Otherwise it’s just some dogs running after a dummy rabbit :) And no, I didn’t make any money and lost a fortune: 3 euros!! :-D

In July there are the Horse races.

This weekend was time for a short cycle to the seaside (Salthill is about 10m from by house, near Galway city center):

The Irish seemed to be enjoying the swim but I don’t think i’ll ever set my feet in :)

In walking distance of Salthill some small cliffs overlooking the sea:
