FOAF and SIOC

Since (recently after) I moved the blog I put online my FOAF file. Still needs further improvements :)

The blog is also exporting SIOC data due to the WordPress SIOC plugin. You can browse the data for instance here. The Semantic Radar plugin for Firefox is also a great tool to view semantic data on the web. Any other tools?

blog moved

My blog was moved to another server. The new URL is http://nunolopes.org/blog.

I will set up a redirect for your old feeds but you might also want to update to this url: http://feeds2.feedburner.com/nunolopes.

New website is now online.
Check out the Language Specification and the demo.

feed update

Due to the “high” number of posts I hadn’t noticed that the feed URL does not get redirected! So I ask you to update your feeds to this one (which I think is correct): http://nunolopes.org/feed/

Happy New Year

May 2009 be a better (or even better) year for all of you!

Happy 2009

Papers accepted for publication

I’m very pleased to announce 2 papers accepted for publication. One journal paper related to my Master’s research and a workshop paper of some new work under research:

  • Nuno Lopes, Cláudio Fernandes and Salvador Abreu, Representing and Querying Multiple Ontologies with Contextual Logic Programming, ComSIS – Computer Science and Information Systems, Special Issue on Compilers, Related Technologies and Applications, Volume 5, Number 2, December 2008, Accepted for publication.
  • Philipp Karger, Nuno Lopes, Axel Polleres and Daniel Olmedilla, Towards Logic Programs with Ordered and Unordered Disjunction, ASPOCP 2008 – Answer Set Programming and Other Computing Paradigms, Accepted for publication

Emacs

Today I got a nice suggestion from google reader: subscribe to the Planet Emacsen feed.

By reading some of the posts I got some nice tips about things I did not know:

  • Query Replace points you some interesting options of query-replace (‘,’ to replace and stay in the same place, C-r to enter “Recursive Edit” which allows to edit the replacement for this entry only and, C-M-c to return to the replacement from “Recursive Edit”
  • iswitchb is a different way to switch buffers
  • savehist-mode saves your history between sessions (a nice complement to desktop-mode)

Reasoning Web 2008

Back to Galway from Venice. Among some good presentations (and others not so good :) ) there was a very interesting talk from Umberto Straccia entitled
“Managing Uncertainty and Vagueness in Description Logics, Logic Programs and Description Logic Programs” (pdf).

A interesting research topic seems to be Fuzzy and/or Probabilistic RDF. Fuzzy RDF seems to be a good place to start which means somebody is going to be contacted very soon ;)

Venice

Just a quick hello from venice! ;)

First of all nice bar with a nice name at Dublin Airport:

Cú bar at Dublin Airpoirt

I wonder if it’s run by a Portuguese guy :)

Venice is what you’d expect:

Venice

Very nice! And also very nice the view from my room (although we don’t spend that much time in it with all the talks):

Swimming!!

Well, it’s true and I have the proof:

Swimming in Silverstrand

I went swimming in Silverstrand (a beach near Galway).

I wonder why the Spanish and the Portuguese guys were the last ones in :-D

The water was cold but the weather quite nice, everybody says it was strange :)
